Summary AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for an experienced Laboratory Technician B to join our Inorganics/Environmental lab working out of our Calgary, Alberta facility. This position is given direction from the Laboratory Supervisor and assists with administrative and basic laboratory services. Please note this is position is for a Maternity Leave overage term with an anticipated duration of approximately 18 months. What you will be doing: Perform standard laboratory procedures, including the preparation of samples, reagents, and calibration solutions. Calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot intermediate-level instrumentation, including ICP-OES and/or ICP-MS systems. Compile, verify, and validate data with attention to detail and accuracy. Ensure compliance with turnaround time expectations and quality assurance protocols. Perform general lab support tasks such as washing glassware, cleaning workstations, and managing waste disposal. Adhere to all Quality Control procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Accurately report analytical results and document work clearly. Carry out additional lab duties as assigned. What you bring to the table: Post-secondary education in a science-related field; Technical Diploma or B.Sc. preferred. 0–2 years of relevant laboratory experience; recent grads welcome to apply. Prior experience troubleshooting lab instruments is an asset. Experience with ICP-OES or ICP-MS is not required but is considered a strong advantage. Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is an asset. Medium lifting is a requirement for this position. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Excellent hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and a proactive work ethic. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet lab goals. Capable of standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks in a physically demanding environment.
