General Internal Medicine provides care to adult patients with complex acute and chronic medical conditions requiring comprehensive assessment, clinical expertise, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Description: As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals. PLEASE NOTE: Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement. Classification: Health Care Aide Union: AUPE AUX Unit and Program: UAH MEDICINE 4A7 Primary Location: U of A Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 08-SEP-2026 Temporary Employee Class: Temp F/T Benefits Date Available: 21-SEP-2026 Temporary End Date: 19-SEP-2027 Hours per Shift: 11.25 Length of Shift in weeks: 36 Shifts per cycle: 124 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $26.43 Maximum Salary: $29.58 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire. Additional Required Qualifications: Current BLS-HCP certification. Ability to meet physical demands of the position. Medicine Program experience preferred. Experience supporting patients with complex medical needs preferred. Connect Care experience preferred. Assisted with patient flow coordination while working independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment able to work independently to support and improve patient flow throughout clinical operations.

Exigences

Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Health Care Aide with the CLHA and hold a current BLS-HCP certification. A Health Care Aide Certificate is required within 18 months of hire, with acute care experience preferred.
