Node.js Backend Developer

Role: Node.js Backend Developer Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) Experience: 5+ Years Work from Office: 4 days a week Interview: in person Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Node.js Backend Developer to design, develop, and support scalable, secure, and high-performing backend applications for enterprise banking platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building APIs, microservices, and cloud-native solutions in an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain backend applications using Node.js and TypeScript. Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices. Collaborate with Architects, Product Owners, QA, and DevOps teams. Ensure application security, performance, scalability, and reliability. Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and production support. Required Skills 5+ years of software development experience. Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js/NestJS. Experience with REST APIs and microservices architecture. Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and CI/CD pipelines. Strong understanding of secure coding and software engineering best practices. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Banking or Financial Services. Exposure to Kafka, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native development. Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies. Nice to Have: React/Angular exposure, Open Banking, Payments, and DevOps automation experience.

Requires over 5 years of software development experience with strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and cloud platforms. Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and microservices architecture is essential, with banking industry experience preferred.
