Title:Night Manager Reports to:Resort Assistant Manager Location: 18 Cabot Lane, Inverness, NS, B0E 1N0 Job Type:Full-time Seasonal (May through October) Cabot Cape Breton Located on over a mile of sandy beach along the coast of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia—and nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the picturesque town of Inverness—Cabot Cape Breton is Canada’s first and only authentic links golf resort. Position Overview After a busy day of check ins and check outs the night shift allows the resort to take a deep breath and relax before another busy day. It’s during this time that you do your best work! You like to work on your own and are self-motivated. You’ll oversee the operations of the resort, focussing on front desk and night audit. Executional Excellence Act as manager-on-duty for the resort dealing with special requests, disturbances, problem solving, complaints or any other issues that may arise. Deliver a world-class guest experience while overseeing the daily operation of the front desk, including managing arrivals, departures, groups and tour needs, and balancing room inventory. Manage the night audit process, ensuring that all the previous day’s work has been properly audited. Includes posting transactions and running reports. Compile and run statistical reports for all departments and transfer information to out accounting system. Produce daily reports for department heads. Demonstrate a high level of customer service by anticipating guest needs and upholding satisfaction by dealing with concerns in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with the housekeeping department regarding guest room status and requests. Ensure guest accounts are settled at time of departure and follow up on any outstanding billing. Always ensure a safe, clean, and productive work environment, addressing unsafe areas, activities and reporting hazards immediately. Qualifications And Experience A diploma or degree in Hotel/Hospitality Management or related field. 3 years’ experience in Guest Services. Experience in Night Audit with an Accounting background an asset. Computer skills including Microsoft Office and property management system. Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Information System (WHIMIS). Physical Demands Ability to remain alert and always display strong attention to detail during overnight shift. Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching and crouching while performing other duties. Ability to lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects (including luggage) up to 50 pounds.
