Side Hoe Excavator - Water and Sewer

Summary of Position CKB Construction is a privately owned company with over 40 years specializing in Municipal Water & Sewer Construction & Rehabilitation along with Sewer Outfall Construction & Rehabilitation. Reporting to the foreman, operators are an integral member of field operations, responsible for providing support on all of our water and sewer projects. Role and Responsibilities Participate and provide input during morning toolbox Provide daily upkeep with the equipment you are assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, greasing, fueling, and cleaning Experience operating around utilities Operate various sizes of excavators such as 311, 135, 225, 245, etc. Assist mainline hoe with moving spoil pile away from trench supply sand and rock for pipe bedding when needed lifting / lowering pipe into trench for pipelayer experience using a hoe pack in tight areas and around structures backfill as needed May be asked to excavate at times if comfort and skill level support such needs Other duties as assigned Qualifications, Training and Education Required Minimum 1+ year(s) of directly related experience Class 5 driver’s license and clean abstract CSTS 2020 WHMIS 2015 Able to lift 60 lbs. unaided Assets Ground Disturbance level 2 Dozer & track loader experience Working Conditions Workers are expected to do physically demanding work in different positions (kneeling, standing, etc.). The successful applicants will be working outdoors in dusty and underground environments, through all weather conditions. A large portion of their day will be sitting operating a piece of equipment.

Operators are responsible for supporting water and sewer projects by operating various excavators and performing daily equipment maintenance. They assist with trenching, pipe installation, and backfilling while ensuring safe operations around existing utilities.

Candidates must have at least one year of directly related experience and hold a Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract. Required certifications include CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015, along with the physical ability to lift 60 lbs.
