Location: Ottawa Headquarters, 24 Colonnade Road, Ottawa ON (Free parking on site) Schedule: Daytime, Monday to Friday Term: 18-month contract Starting Salary: 66 000$ / Year Commissionaires Ottawa is looking for an Internal Communications and Employee Engagement Specialist to lead the planning, development and delivery of internal communications that keep employees informed, connected and engaged across Ottawa Headquarters, regional offices and field sites. This role is ideal for someone who can translate organizational priorities, business transformation initiatives and operational changes into clear, timely and audience-specific communications. During the business transformation initiative, you will provide dedicated communications support to the PMO while helping to strengthen employee engagement and internal communications across the organization. Some of your responsibilities include… Develop and maintain an organization-wide internal communications strategy and editorial calendar Draft executive communications, CEO letters, leadership messages, FAQs, key messages and change communications materials Plan, write, edit and publish internal newsletters, intranet/SharePoint content and transformation hub updates Create and maintain leadership and supervisor communication toolkits, including briefing cards, scripts and talking points Coordinate town hall communications, including presentations, invitations, question collection and follow-up summaries Develop plain-language, bilingual physical materials (bulletins, posters, handouts) for employees with limited digital access Design and manage feedback mechanisms (surveys, Q&A cards, anonymous forms) and close the loop through published answers Build tailored communication approaches for field guards, supervisors and regional employees Coordinate communications and logistics for regional visits and employee engagement sessions Establish and track internal communications metrics, including reach, readership, engagement and feedback volumes Prepare regular reports and recommendations for the Director, executive team and PMO Coordinate translation, design, printing, distribution and vendor support to ensure timely execution What's in it for you? Work for a reputable and nationally known company Work in a challenging and rewarding work environment Employer paid professional development A comprehensive benefits package Generous paid time off, holidays and sick days Retirement plans with company matching of employee contributions Free Parking Employee discount programs, social outings and holiday gatherings What You Bring 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in internal communications, employee communications, change communications or public relations Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, journalism, change management, employee engagement or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Excellent writing, editing and plain-language communication skills, with the ability to adapt sensitive information for different audiences Experience developing communication strategies, editorial calendars, key messages and multi-channel communication plans Experience drafting executive communications, newsletters, briefing materials, FAQs and change communications Experience managing intranet/SharePoint content, town halls and employee feedback mechanisms Experience supporting organizational transformation or complex multi-stakeholder initiatives is strongly preferred Experience communicating with dispersed, frontline or field-based workforces is a significant asset Sound judgement when handling confidential, sensitive or potentially reputational information Bilingual proficiency in English and French is strongly preferred; demonstrated ability to coordinate high-quality translation is required Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and comfort working with distribution lists, spreadsheets and dashboards Application Process If we are the right fit for you, we want to hear from you!
