Position Summary: Independence Apartments is a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) and a program of enCompass Community Safety Agency. Its primary focus is to assist adult males in successfully transitioning from federal institutions to responsible community living. Independence Apartments provides community supervision of clients while at the same time, providing one-to-one support for their transition into the community. As a Caseworker, you have the opportunity to promote pro-social and healthy lifestyles using various methods including but not limited to, ongoing monitoring/reporting of client behavior, assessing the risks and needs of clients, completing accurate referrals to treatment centres/community resources as required, and assisting clients in the development and implementation of SMART goals. Caseworkers are part of a Case Management Team which consists of a Parole Officer and where applicable, could include Edmonton Police Officers, RCMP and/or Program Facilitators. The Case Management Team's role is to support all aspects of client care with the goal of facilitating a successful transition into the community. Responsibilities: * Regularly meet with, observe, and document resident behavior, progress or deterioration, both within the CBRF and in the community. * Deliver services using a client-centered, strength-based approach. * Maintain file and supervision standards set by the enCompass Community Safety Agency and Correctional Service of Canada. * Liaison with Parole Officers, Edmonton Police Service, and various other treatment professionals. * Attend client case conferences, unit, and agency meetings, and staff training. * Work with clients to develop goals that are specific to risk factors and complement their special conditions of release. * Completion of accurate written documentation, data collection/entry, intakes, and assessments. * Ensure services are being delivered in accordance with Agency Policies and Procedures. * Contribute to a positive culture by assisting and supporting colleagues as needed and encourage, mentor, and teach others about the unit’s operations. * Demonstrates a strong work ethic, high degree of integrity, and takes pride in their work. Qualifications / Skills: * Degree or diploma in a human services field * Ability to understand the dynamics of clients’ behavior and assess their needs and risks. * Strong communication and pro-social relationship-building skills. * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Conditions of Employment: * This is a temporary position expected to last approximately 9 months, with the possibility of extension * This position is Monday to Friday, with hours alternating weekly between 06:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and 14:45 p.m. - 23:00 p.m. * The position requires frequent standing, walking up and down stairs, and occasional lifting. * Clear Criminal Record Check, Enhanced Reliability Screening, and valid First Aid and CPR certification. * Flexibility to work an on-call rotation.
