Job Summary Job Title: Bella Coola- Family Medicine + Emergency Locum Physician Opportunities Work Site: Bella Coola Status: Temporary Full-Time Start Date: January 1, 2026 Compensation Type: Combination Come work as a Family Medicine + Emergency Locum Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! We are inviting physicians to join our Bella Coola team — one of the most rewarding, community-oriented practice settings within Vancouver Coastal Health Coastal Community of Care. Enjoy a true full-scope practice (inpatient, emergency, and primary care) within a supportive, collegial team and a 1:3 or 1:4 –call rotation. Scheduling: Minimum 1-week locum (Monday–Sunday) with arrival the day prior. Our streamlined scheduling model ensures balanced workload, flexibility, and strong on-site support. Compensation (the rates below reflect the weekly rate): 55 hour week (clinical care hours); $15,531 (APP $12,636 + FPE 25.62% $3,168) All ED shifts receive additional on-call compensation through MOCAP and REEF. After Hours Premiums (AHP) available for clinical care provided on-site after hours (enhanced by the Rural Retention Program Fee-Premium-Equivalent 25.62%). ED On-Call Information: Emergency Room is open 24/7 On-call rotation: 1-in-3 to 1-in-4 Certifications required: ACLS, ATLS, PALS (The CARE course accepted if others are expired) Call shifts typically range from 12–24 hours 24-hour shifts are from 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM Clinic Schedule: Monday to Friday only – Closed on weekends and stats Daily physician rounds: 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM Clinic hours: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM Travel expenses covered, include: Round-trip flights (Home to YVR to Bella Coola) Meal per diems on travel days Housing provided at no cost Qualifications Education, Licensing, & Experience: Licensing: o Full or provisional license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC) Mandatory Requirements: o Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) o Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) o Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) o Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) OR Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) o Emergency medicine experience Professional Affiliation: o Certification or eligibility for certification by the Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) is desired Closing Statement If you are new to the site, one of the local physicians will provide you with an orientation to ensure you feel prepared, set up, and aware of all supports available to you.
