Based in Nanaimo, B.C., Makon Projects Ltd. (Makon) is a locally owned full-service general contracting company providing superior solutions for commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-residential construction projects on Vancouver Island. Makon is seeking a skilled labourer who lives locally in the Comox area to work on a project located in Comox, BC for a fixed term starting June 15th, 2026 until August 31st, 2026. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of tasks, including maintaining a clean and safe worksite, using power tools, loading and delivering materials, operating equipment and machinery, helping to prepare the job site, and performing other required duties on site. **Responsibilities & Duties:** - Assist the site supervisor with coordinating and monitoring site activities - Loading and unloading construction materials and moving them to work areas - Perform carpentry, demolition, and other general tasks on site - Removing rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment - Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labour tasks - Operate various tools and equipment, including, but not limited to: Telehandlers, Forklifts, and power tools - Comply with company safety policies and procedures - Maintain the work area and ensure it is clean, safe and organized - Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner - Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly - Stand-in First Aid Attendant **Education & Experience:** - High school diploma/GED preferred - First Aid Certification - Experience operating a telehandler and forklift an asset - 2+ years’ construction industry experience required - Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures - Understanding & experience using hand tools - A Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation - Heavy haul driver’s license an asset - Ability to read and interpret construction drawings an asset **Qualities & Skills:** - Punctual and reliable - Willingness to learn - Strong communication skills - Ability to lift 50lbs safely and consistently - Can take initiative
