The Communication Assistant will act as a liaison for sustainability initiatives and educate the campus community on zero-waste and recycling practices. They are responsible for conducting presentations and assisting in the execution of various sustainability programs and events.

Act as a liaison between environmental student groups, residence students, food and dining employees, administration, and the general student population. Represent SHHS in matters of sustainability at McGill. Coordinate and assist in the execution of our programs of waste management, fairtrade, local food day and general sustainability events. Hiring Unit: Student Housing & Hospitality Services Position Summary: Must attend training, in person and virtual campus events/activities; provide information about zero-waste, recycling, sustainability practices at McGill; educate the campus community on sustainability. Must be stationed at busy bins on campus at various times throughout the semesters, helping people to choose the right bin when disposing of waste in the cafeteria's. Conduct presentations to educate students, staff, and faculty on sustainability. Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities Must be autonomy and resourceful; work independently. Communication skills a must , be able to approach crowds about sustainability. Must be a team player, working alongside peers and able to offer the skills of further projects. Ability to take systematic approach to accomplish tasks and reporting of achievements. Additional Information: Period of employment: August 31, 2026 - April 9, 2027 Hours of work: 3 hours/week(possibility of more hours during events on certain weeks) Hourly rate: $16.70 per hour Minimum Education and Experience: High School Diploma Hourly Salary: (AMUSE A) $16.70 Estimated Number of Work Hours per Week: 3 hours/week (Part time) Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday Position Start Date: August 31, 2026 Position End Date: April 9, 2027 McGill University is committed to equity and diversity within its community and values academic rigour and excellence.
