Landscape Assistant

Once again our summer crew is heading back to school but we still have lots of work to complete! Job Description This is a temporary on-site job for a Landscape Assistant at Native Plant Source in Breslau, ON. Native Plant Source is urgently seeking 2 people to work as Landscape Assistants in September and October to help us complete several projects. Earliest start date can be August 24th. Tasks assigned to the Landscape Assistants will primarily involve prepping sites (eg hand pulling weeds and raking), moving mulch and planting native trees, shrubs and perennial plants at stormwater management pond rehabilitations and potentially a residential landscape installation. Although we attempt to stick to normal work day hours (between 8:30am and 4:30pm) some circumstances, such as travel to the site, may result in longer days but advanced notice will be given. Weekend work is not anticipated or required. Qualifications Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, for 6+ hours a day for several days in a row Ability to be punctual and meet at the greenhouse each day for work (our location is not on public transit routes). Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently Additional Experience Preferred (but not required) Previous experience in the landscape industry Previous experience operating landscaping tools and equipment Previous experience in tree planting, or garden maintenance or planting Pay rate is $20 per hour. Company Description Native Plant Source, the horticultural and landscaping division of Thompson Environmental, specializes in designing and installing purposeful landscapes such as rain gardens, pollinator gardens, and habitat gardens. We also assist larger engineering companies with required on-site ecological restorations.

Assist in prepping sites by weeding and raking, and planting native trees, shrubs, and perennials. Work on stormwater management pond rehabilitations and residential landscape installations.

Candidates must have the physical stamina to work outdoors for 6+ hours daily and be able to commute to the greenhouse. Ability to follow instructions and punctuality are required.
