Health & Safety Advisor

Department: Safety & Emergency Management Location: Sherwood Park R Reports to: Supervisor, Safety & Emergency Management

This is a long‑term contract role based out of Sherwood Park, running until the end of the year with a strong likelihood of extension and the potential to become a multi‑year engagement.

The Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting safe, reliable, and compliant operations across transportation and facility assets. The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and executing health and safety programs, providing guidance to operations, and ensuring regulatory and corporate requirements are consistently met. It is a professional position that works closely with field teams, leadership, and technical groups to strengthen safety performance and support day‑to‑day operational needs.

Key Responsibilities Translate departmental safety strategies into clear, actionable objectives. Coach and mentor personnel on safe work practices and compliance expectations. Support continuous improvement of health and safety programs and processes. Assist in developing occupational health and safety plans and identifying budget impacts. Contribute to competency‑based training development, delivery, and assessment. Participate in—and when required, lead—incident investigations. Support regulatory compliance audits and internal conformance reviews. Conduct planned workplace inspections and participate in safety meetings. Provide safety input during operational planning discussions. Facilitate incident review meetings and track corrective actions. Provide safety support for transportation‑related projects. Assist with industrial hygiene initiatives and monitoring. Support emergency situations and help execute emergency response exercises. Maintain Safety Data Sheets and ensure accuracy and accessibility. Prepare leadership reports covering incidents, observations, corrective actions, and emerging safety concerns.

Qualifications Minimum 10 years of experience in the Health & Safety discipline, ideally within the energy sector. Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field. Professional safety designation (or active progress toward one). Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while coordinating activities across multiple sites. Ability to meet pre‑employment requirements for safety‑sensitive roles.

Schedule Full‑time, Monday to Friday.
