Position Overview:
We are seeking a temporary Utilityworker to join our Western Generation Department for a six month term in Grand Rapids,
Manitoba.
Responsibilities:
- Participate actively and positively in the development of the team and the achievement of the team's goals.
- Assist Tradespeople and Technicians in the performance of their duties.
- Required to train junior personnel in all areas of work engaged with the station.
- Carry out rough carpentry work and concrete work, painting, fence erection and building erection.
- Assist in plant cleanliness, painting, grass cutting, landscaping, maintenance of roads and grounds, and snow removal.
- Ensure that duties performed comply with Corporate and regulatory environmental requirements. Report any incidents or
situations that may be harmful to the environment or in violation of corporate or regulatory requirements.
- Operate electrical and pneumatic tools.
- Perform rigging work which will require climbing ability.
- Operate the following mobile equipment as required: cars, trucks, tractors front-end loaders, backhoe, snowmobile, motor
boat, powerhouse cranes, grader and other light equipment.
- Will assist/perform with the installation/removal of stoplogs for the intake, tailrace and spillway.
- Assist in scroll case inspection and perform grinding duties during turbine runner repairs.
- Required to install and remove cavitation scaffolding as needed.
- Required to perform grinding duties during the turbine runner repairs and assist in scroll case inspections.
- May be required to direct and train junior personnel in work engaged in the station.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Grade 10 education or equivalent.
- Required to have a minimum of one year related experience.
- Experience at a Hydraulic Generating Station would be an asset.
- Be physically capable of performing all the duties of the position, including working at heights,in confined spaces, in adverse
weather conditions and unusual work environments such as noise or dust.
- Capable of following written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees.
- Be familiar with and adhere to Manitoba Hydro's life saving rules and approved safety practices and procedures related to
Hydraulic Generating Stations.
- Possess a basic understanding of blueprint reading.
- Capable of understanding written instructions, plans and sketches of small projects and performing simple calculations.
- Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence. Will be required to obtain a Class 3 with Air Brake
endorsement, within a reasonable period of time.
- Required to obtain Vehicle Operator's Certificate for certain classes of equipment.

- The successful applicant will be required to work the Grand Rapids Modified (8-6) Work Schedule in accordance with LOU
#12/2016-18.
- Corporate accommodation will be available depending upon present occupancy.
- The successful candidate may be assigned to work at other stations within Western Generation.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $23.27-$33.36 Hourly.
