Job Details:

Position Title: Bioscience Laboratory Specialist

Job Type: Appendix-D Contract

Hours: 40 hours per week

Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health & Life Sciences, Emergency and Funeral Services, Bioscience and Clinical Simulation Programs

Campus/Location: North Campus; In-person

Salary: Payband K: $47.13- $54.48

Starting Salary: $47.13; Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.

About the Bioscience Laboratory Specialist Position**:**

Under the direction of the Associate Dean, the Bioscience Specialist performs duties associated with the operation of the Bioscience Labs and tutorials. Specific duties include: facilitate anatomy and physiology lab and tutorial sessions, monitor lab safety and maintenance, ensure all labs are kept neat and clean, act as a resource for co-op students, coordinate test schedules, oversee lab access, set up and take down all labs. Perform cadaver dissection and prosection as well as maintain cadaver specimens in good condition.

Education

  • The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a post graduate degree (eg. Masters) or equivalent in Human Anatomy or related disciplines.
  • Additional requirements include WHMIS, standard First Aid and CPR training.

Experience

  • The incumbent must possess at least two(2) years of experience working with adults in a post-secondary environment, with an anatomy, physiology or science-related focus, including planning and coordinating detailed cadaveric dissections for multiple programs as well as mentoring undergraduate students.
  • The incumbent must also possess excellent Microsoft Office skills.
