Payroll Specialist (Contract) I Payroll Cleanup & Stabilization Project 📍 Remote – Canada ⏳ 3-Month Contract 💲 $35–$45 per Hour 🚨 Immediate Start Required

We're partnering with a healthcare organization that requires an experienced Bilingual Payroll Specialist to step in immediately and help stabilize, organize, and improve payroll operations during a critical transition period. This is not a maintenance role. We're looking for someone who can quickly assess existing payroll processes, identify gaps, resolve outstanding issues, improve accuracy, and help leave the payroll function in a stronger position than they found it. The ideal candidate is highly hands-on, comfortable navigating complexity, and able to work independently with minimal ramp-up time.

What You'll Be Doing Process and audit payroll for employees across Ontario and Quebec Review current payroll practices and identify errors, inconsistencies, and compliance risks Resolve outstanding payroll issues, employee discrepancies, and reconciliation challenges Ensure compliance with Quebec payroll legislation, including CNESST, QPIP, Revenu Québec, ESA, and statutory deductions Process new hires, terminations, leaves, benefits changes, and Records of Employment Support payroll reconciliations, reporting, and payroll-related audits Partner with HR and Finance to improve payroll workflows and controls Document processes and recommend improvements to support long-term operational efficiency Assist with payroll cleanup projects and backlog reduction as required What We're Looking For Minimum 3 years of payroll experience with Quebec payroll exposure Strong understanding of Quebec payroll legislation and compliance requirements Experience working within Desjardins Payroll & HR Solutions preferred Experience with Dayforce, UKG, ADP, Ceridian, or similar enterprise payroll systems considered an asset Ability to identify and resolve payroll issues independently Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities Ideal Background Multi-site organizations Unionized environments Large employee populations Why This Contract? ✔ Immediate start ✔ Fully remote ✔ High-impact project work ✔ Opportunity to make meaningful improvements ✔ Collaborative leadership team ✔ Competitive hourly rate Quick Fit Check Apply if you can confidently say YES to the following: ✔ I have independently processed payroll in Quebec. ✔ I can start immediately or within one week. ✔ I have experience identifying and correcting payroll issues. ✔ I am comfortable stepping into a payroll function that requires cleanup and process improvement.
