About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Developer to join a high-impact Ontario Health initiative focused on modernizing digital healthcare solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and developing secure, scalable healthcare applications, integrating hospital information systems, building cloud-native services, and implementing healthcare interoperability standards.
This role involves working with Virtual Care platforms, Provincial Health Services Directory (PHSD), SMART on FHIR applications, healthcare APIs, AI-enabled healthcare solutions, and enterprise integration services.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Full Stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, and TypeScript. Develop secure RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications. Design and implement FHIR APIs, SMART on FHIR applications, and healthcare interoperability solutions. Build and support integrations with hospital information systems including Epic, Cerner, and MEDITECH. Develop and maintain HL7v2 interfaces, healthcare messaging, and clinical data exchange solutions. Design and implement healthcare integrations using Smile CDR, AWS HealthLake, and Mirth Integration Engine. Build scalable provider search capabilities using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch. Develop secure authentication and authorization solutions using OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, and RBAC. Implement healthcare workflows including scheduling, encounter management, patient/provider context, and clinical launch workflows. Design cloud-native solutions using AWS services including ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, IAM, and Secrets Manager. Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, CI/CD implementation, testing, production support, and technical documentation.
Must Have Qualifications
Senior Full Stack Software Development experience delivering enterprise healthcare or digital transformation projects. Extensive experience with Java and Spring Boot. Strong experience developing applications using ReactJS. Experience designing and developing REST APIs and FHIR APIs. Strong experience with SMART on FHIR, FHIR R4/R4B, and HL7v2. Hands-on experience with Smile CDR implementation and customization. Experience with AWS HealthLake and FHIR repository implementation. Strong experience with Mirth Integration Engine, including message routing, transformation, validation, troubleshooting, and production support. Experience integrating healthcare applications with Epic, Cerner, and MEDITECH. Experience with Provider Registry, Master Data Management (MDM), and healthcare interoperability. Experience implementing advanced provider search using OpenSearch or Elasticsearch. Experience with PostgreSQL and healthcare data modelling. Experience designing secure healthcare applications using OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services including ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, CloudWatch, IAM, Secrets Manager, and CloudFormation/CDK. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git/GitHub, automated testing, and DevOps best practices. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have
Experience with Novari, RICOH, Ocean, or similar healthcare referral platforms. Experience with AI-enabled healthcare solutions, semantic search, vector search, or healthcare search platforms. Experience with provider directory solutions and healthcare master data management. Experience working on public sector healthcare modernization initiatives.
