Shield Industrial, a division of the Shield Group of Companies, is a leading Newfoundland & Labrador manufacturer of custom removable insulation systems and industrial textile products. We support clients across the construction, energy, marine, offshore, industrial fabrication, and HVAC/mechanical sectors. With increasing demand for our locally manufactured products, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Sewer to join our production team.

About the Role

Based in our Mount Pearl production facility, the Industrial Sewer plays a key role in manufacturing high-quality custom insulation blankets and industrial textile products. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and thrives in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities & Production Responsibilities (Mount Pearl Facility)

Operate industrial sewing machines to manufacture removable insulation blankets and custom industrial textile products. Sew, assemble, bind, and finish products according to production drawings and specifications. Inspect completed products to ensure they meet Shield Industrial's quality standards. Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of sewing equipment. Support production workflow by assisting with material handling and shop organization. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace. Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

Previous experience operating industrial sewing machines is considered an asset. Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, upholstery, canvas work, textiles, or related industries is considered an asset. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship. Comfortable working with heavy-duty fabrics, insulation materials, and industrial textiles. Ability to accurately read measurements and follow production drawings or work instructions. Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Reliability, positive attitude, and willingness to learn are essential.
