COMPENSATION: $16.75 per hour

HOURS: 7 am – 3 pm, Monday – Friday, as scheduled

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Manager of Facilities, the Green Team (Student) is responsible for assisting with grounds

maintenance and environmental services as assigned. The Green Team (Student) will work alongside the Head Custodian and

Custodian to perform general cleaning and maintenance of grounds. This position supports the strategic actions of the Multi-
Year Strategic Plan.

This position is open to High School Students, 16 years of age or older.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):

  • High school students, 16 years of age or older.
  • Related work experience in yard work and landscaping is considered as an asset.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Workplace Safety and Health is preferred.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to operate lawn mower, weed wacker and trimmer.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction.
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively in accordance with Divisional policies and guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance.
  • Respect confidentiality of work.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft outlook.
  • Must be able to communicate in a pleasant, courteous, and effective manner.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must have physical capabilities to bend, reach, stoop, use grounds maintenance equipment and garden tools.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search & Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry.

  • Respect In School Certification, or equivalent.
  • Review and comply with Divisional policies and guidelines.
