Sudbury Catholic Schools offers a free summer camp to currently enrolled students. This optional camp is to develop literacy and numeracy skills, close gaps in learning and prevent summer learning loss. The Summer Program Tutor supports the work of a teacher by working directly with students to reinforce previously taught skills and concepts in literacy and numeracy. They are responsible for providing individual and small group tutoring to students in kindergarten to grade 6.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities

Must be a post-secondary student currently enrolled in an Ontario University or College program or have graduated from a post-secondary program. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Self-motivated, organized and demonstrates initiative Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Seeks feedback and demonstrates a willingness to implement feedback to improve practice High level of patience Ability to be sensitive to the needs of all students Ability to recognize individual learning styles and the characteristics of learners High level of attention to confidentiality Proficient in the use of word processing software, internet and email Willingness to learn and apply specific current intervention strategies Manual dexterity required to use computer and peripherals Ability to provide regular attendance

Experience in a classroom setting and/or working with children and youth is an asset.

ADDITONAL INFORMATION

Salary is $29.60 per hour.
