The Opportunity NightOwl is seeking compassionate, experienced, and professional Registered Nurses to join our growing team of overnight care providers. As a Night Nurse, you will provide in-home overnight nursing care to postpartum families and their newborns during the early weeks and months following birth.
Working independently within private homes, you will support newborn feeding, sleep, and overall well-being while promoting maternal recovery and providing ongoing education and reassurance to families. This role offers a unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships with families while making a lasting impact during one of the most important stages of their lives.

Who You Are As our Night Nurse, you are a compassionate and highly skilled Registered Nurse who is passionate about supporting families during the postpartum period. You remain calm under pressure, possess excellent clinical judgment, and are committed to providing exceptional, evidence-based care in a home setting.
You are an excellent communicator who builds trust quickly, respects each family's individual parenting style and values, and understands the importance of creating a safe, supportive, and reassuring environment for both parents and newborns.
Your responsibilities will include: · Providing safe, responsive, and evidence-based overnight nursing care to newborns in private homes. · Monitoring newborn health, feeding, comfort, sleep, and overall well-being throughout the night. · Supporting breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, and individualized feeding plans. · Promoting safe sleep practices and responding appropriately to infant needs. · Monitoring maternal recovery and identifying signs of postpartum complications. · Providing compassionate emotional support and reassurance to new parents. · Performing ongoing maternal and newborn assessments using sound clinical judgment. · Recognizing changes in condition and escalating concerns to healthcare providers when appropriate. · Educating families on newborn care, infant feeding, safe sleep, postpartum recovery, and infant development. · Promoting parental confidence through individualized coaching and practical guidance. · Maintaining accurate nursing documentation and communicating effectively with families and the NightOwl clinical team. · Practicing in accordance with provincial nursing standards, privacy legislation, and professional ethics. · Participating in ongoing learning and professional development to maintain clinical excellence. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you possess the following: · Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory college. · Current CPR/BLS certification (NRP certification is considered an asset). · Minimum of two years of postpartum clinical nursing experience. Public health or hospital maternity ward experience is strongly preferred; rural and travel nursing experience will also be considered. · Experience providing family-centred care in community or home care settings is considered an asset. · Strong maternal and newborn assessment skills. · Excellent critical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving abilities. · Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and teaching skills. · Ability to work independently while providing high-quality clinical care. · Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Requirements Comfortable working overnight shifts in private homes. Ability to commit to a minimum average of two shifts per week/eights shifts per month. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel between client homes as required. Current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional boundaries. Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with families from diverse backgrounds. Passion for providing compassionate, evidence-informed, family-centred nursing care. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required.
