Join our team for a paid training opportunity as a Health Care Support worker via the Health Career Access Program (HCAP). About HCAP The Health Career Access Program (HCAP) is a provincial program, designed for individuals who are aspiring to pursue a healthcare career. Starting as a Health Care Support Worker, participants will be provided paid training to transition into the role of a Health Care Assistant (HCA). Within the framework of HCAP, the province covers the cost of your post-secondary education while facilitating your placement in an entry-level position within the care sector. Upon successful completion of the training, candidates become eligible to register as a Care Aide with the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry. Those who accept this opportunity commit to remaining employed as a Care Aide at Baptist Housing for 12 months following graduation. About The Role *This is a temporary full-time position while you are in the program. The Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) position at Baptist Housing is designed as an entry-level, paid training opportunity for individuals aspiring to build a career in healthcare through the provincial Health Career Access Program (HCAP). In this temporary full-time role, the incumbent provides non-clinical, non-direct care support to residents, clients, families, and visitors in long-term care and assisted living settings, working under the supervision of regulated healthcare professionals and in alignment with established care plans and safety protocols.

The role serves as a structured pathway to becoming a registered Health Care Assistant (HCA), with participants receiving employer-paid education, hands-on experience, and the opportunity to transition into a permanent Care Aide role upon successful completion of the program. The position supports Baptist Housing’s mission of helping seniors experience life well by contributing to a safe, compassionate, and person-centred care environment.

Requirements and Qualifications: Grade 10 completion, including English 10 (or equivalent), with strong English communication skills If educated outside of Canada, a recent English Language Proficiency Test (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL, CLBPT) is required Not currently working as a Health Care Assistant and no prior HCA training completed in BC Canadian citizen or permanent resident (proof required) Able to commit to full-time paid training (3–6 months) and full-time college education (approx. 6 months, including practicum) Compensation & Benefits Your total compensation includes a wage of $26.31 outlined by Fraser Health’s HCAP program. Eligible for extended health and dental following six months employment until end of HCAP schooling. You will be welcomed into a warm and supportive work environment.
