Curriculum Specialist, Nursing Graduate Program

Primary Purpose: The purpose of this position is to support the College of Nursing Graduate Program Curriculum Development.

Nature of Work: In supporting the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies, the Curriculum Specialist will work with the Graduate Chair, the Nurse Practitioner Program Academic Lead, the members of the Graduate Programs Team, the members of the Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Committee and the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. The Graduate Curriculum Specialist will report to the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies.

Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies, the Graduate Chair, the Nurse Practitioner Program Academic Lead, and the members of the Graduate Programs Team, and the Graduate Curriculum Review Workgroup
  • Support the development of graduate curriculum philosophical framework, monitor College of Graduate Studies and University Council deadlines, support reviews of existing graduate courses, support new courses development, and delivery timetables
  • Support the Indigenization of the graduate programs
  • Work closely with members of the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning Excellence
  • Keep detailed records on the revised graduate curriculum, the revisions and updating of existing graduate courses, and the development of new graduate courses
  • In conjunction with the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies develop agenda items and actively participate in meetings with the Graduate Programs Team, the Graduate Review Team, and the members of the Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Committee
  • Provide follow-up documentation post-meetings
  • Provide support to graduate faculty members in revising or developing new graduate courses

Education: A Master’s degree, preferably a Master of Health Professions Education or a Master of Education or a Master in Nursing with a curriculum development specialty.

Experience: Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a related field, preferably in a health profession. Experience working closely with development teams creating new projects/curriculum development is essential to this role. Knowledge of graduate nursing education represents an asset.

Skills: In this role, the incumbent will work with many individuals and teams. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with faculty, staff, graduate students, and other stakeholders is foundational to the success of this project and integral to this role.

  • Ability to collaborate with a number of individuals and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize, take initiative and identify where to focus attention to keep all projects and/or curriculum and course development moving forward
  • See and make connections between and among projects
  • Excellent organizational skills

Technical Skills

  • Excellent writing skills tailored to each communication method, purpose, and audience
  • Proficiency in using online platforms for communication and for displaying information
  • Use continuous quality improvement approaches
  • Experienced in data analysis and reporting
  • Meticulous record keeping, identification, and consolidation of key information from development teams to inform the work of the team and related initiatives
  • If the incumbent is a Registered Nurse, a current registration with the CRNS is required

Salary: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $69,035.00 - 107,868.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
