About the role
Senior Hardware DesignerGeneral Function As a Senior Hardware Designer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and industrialization of innovative electronic products that improve accessibility for individuals who are blind or have low vision. Working as a senior technical contributor, you will lead complex hardware development projects from concept through production, making key technical decisions while providing guidance and mentorship to the engineering team. You'll collaborate closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and product teams to deliver reliable, high-quality products and help shape the future of our client's hardware platforms. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, architecture, and development of complex electronic hardware solutions. Define hardware architectures, design approaches, component selection strategies, and technical solutions. Own critical hardware subsystems throughout the full product development lifecycle, from concept through production release. Lead schematic design, PCB development, hardware validation, board bring-up, and debugging activities. Analyze complex hardware issues, lead root cause investigations, and implement effective technical solutions. Develop hardware validation and testing strategies to ensure product quality, reliability, and performance. Provide technical leadership during design reviews and key engineering decisions. Collaborate closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and product management teams. Manage technical relationships with suppliers and external development partners. Support product certification activities, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing transfer. Mentor and support junior hardware engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing hardware platforms. Contribute to long-term hardware strategy, technology roadmaps, and continuous improvement initiatives. QualificationsEducation & Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). 10+ years of experience in electronic circuit design and embedded hardware development. Proven experience leading complex electronic product development from concept through production. Experience working in product-based environments such as consumer electronics, medical devices, industrial automation, aerospace, or similar industries. Technical Skills Expert knowledge of electronic circuit design and embedded hardware architecture. Extensive experience with schematic capture, PCB development, hardware validation, debugging, and board bring-up. Strong understanding of embedded systems, power management, and hardware/software integration. Experience leading complex hardware development projects. Knowledge of manufacturing transfer, supplier collaboration, and product certification processes. Familiarity with electronic design tools such as Altium is considered an asset. Strong understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and product lifecycle best practices. What You'll Bring Strong technical leadership and sound engineering judgment. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Ability to influence technical decisions across multidisciplinary teams. Strategic thinking with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement. Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and collaboration. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Languages Ability to read, write, and communicate in French is required. Native or fluent French is not required, but candidates must be comfortable working in French. English is considered an asset.
