Who we need Reporting to the Supervisor, Sample Logistics, we are hiring a Service Centre Customer Service Representative for our St. John's Service Centre. This is a full-Time, 1-Year Contract with potential for permanent employment. This is a hands-on role that combines customer service, shipping and logistics, and sample management. You will be the face of our local operation, greeting clients, answering questions, preparing sample shipments, coordinating bottle orders, and ensuring environmental samples arrive safely and on time for laboratory testing. This existing role is based in our St John’s, New F office, expected to work on-site 5 days a week. What's in it for you Meaningful work. You will play a critical role in ensuring clients receive accurate and timely testing services. Stability and consistency. This is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday role with regular daytime hours. While the work is busy and fast-paced, it offers predictable scheduling and the ability to leave work at work at the end of the day. Learn and grow. You will gain experience in customer service, logistics, shipping coordination, and laboratory operations while working with industry-leading systems and processes. Over time, opportunities may exist to grow into broader customer service or commercial roles within Bureau Veritas. How you will make an impact Manage client samples and shipments. You will receive incoming environmental samples, verify documentation, log information into Bureau Veritas systems, and prepare shipments for transportation to our laboratories. You will ensure samples are packed correctly, protected from damage, and shipped within required timelines. Deliver exceptional customer service. You will greet clients visiting the service centre, answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and provide timely updates regarding sample shipments and bottle orders. Coordinate bottle orders and inventory. You will prepare and ship bottle orders to clients across Newfoundland and Labrador, ensuring orders are accurate and delivered within required timeframes. You will also monitor inventory levels and help maintain operational readiness. Support quality and compliance. You will follow established quality, safety, and operating procedures while maintaining accurate records and ensuring all samples meet handling and documentation requirements. Collaborate with internal teams. You will work closely with supervisors, laboratory personnel, customer service teams, and business development colleagues to ensure a seamless client experience. What you bring Customer-focused communication. You are comfortable interacting with clients in person and over the phone. You communicate professionally, remain positive under pressure, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail. You understand the importance of accuracy and take pride in following procedures, maintaining records, and ensuring work is completed correctly the first time. Physical capability. You are comfortable standing for most of the workday, moving throughout the facility, and lifting up to 50 pounds as required. Adaptability and initiative. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change. You are proactive, dependable, able to manage multiple priorities, and willing to step in wherever support is needed. Technical aptitude. You are comfortable learning new systems and using technology, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, shipping software, and proprietary systems. Experience. Experience in customer service, shipping, logistics, warehousing, retail, hospitality, or laboratory environments is considered an asset. Education. High School Diploma or equivalent.
