This is a full-time position that is anticipated to extend until December 11, 2026, is subject to the availability of work.

What is the Sponsored Employee Program?

The Sponsored Employee Program is a unique, 16-week professional development opportunity where you’ll have the chance to grow your skills, lead meaningful projects, and make a real difference in the community. From August 24 to December 11, 2026, you’ll be seconded full-time to United Way Elgin Middlesex, joining a team of other Sponsored Employees from organizations across the region to support and execute one of the area’s largest fundraising campaigns.

What Will You Do?

As a Sponsored Employee, you will play a key role in supporting United Way’s mission and initiatives. The specific tasks and projects you’ll take on will be tailored to align with your strengths and interests, ensuring you gain experience in areas that enhance your career goals. Whether you’re passionate about campaign engagement, communications, event planning, or data management, we’ll match your responsibilities to best suit your skills.

You will have the chance to:

  • Support workplace campaigns, helping with planning, materials, and employee engagement

  • Deliver impactful presentations and training to inspire others to give back

  • Manage and assist with community events and fundraising activities

  • Collaborate with local businesses to drive participation and engagement across the region

  • Track progress and gather feedback, helping ensure our campaign’s success

What You Need to Know

  • Duration: Full-time secondment from August 24 to December 11, 2026
  • Technology Requirements: You will receive the loan of a UWEM owned laptop for the fulfilment of your duties and to enable offsite work
  • Training: A two-week intensive training period starting August 24
  • Compensation: You will continue to receive your salary and benefits through your sponsoring organization
  • Expenses: Your organization will cover incidental expenses, such as parking and mileage

Immunization Requirements

Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.

Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
