About the role

Position: Overnight Awake Support – 16hrs/wk Fri and Sat

Start date: ASAP  

Location: Daybreak - Corner House

Salary: $19.72-$23.06 commensurate with experience  

Duration: Temporary 6 Months

Responsible To: House Leader

 

L’Arche Daybreak is seeking a compassionate and responsible individual who is willing to work and live alongside individuals with and without developmental disabilities.  The successful applicant will belong to a community setting, learn new skills, and develop meaningful relationships. Assistants gain valuable life skills and opportunities for personal growth and leadership. More than a job, the overnight support role provides essential care and support to people in the overnight to ensure their comfort, safety and sense of security.

 

Corner House: located at Yonge &Dunlop. Corner House is home to 5 women with developmental disabilities and 3 live in Assistants. Your hours would be 10:30pm-6:30am Friday and Saturday nights.

  • Develop a positive, supportive and mutual relationship with individuals with developmental disabilities through sharing daily life together, which respects their history, choices, goals and needs.
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure, that the physical, emotional, health and safety needs of individuals with developmental disabilities are met during the nighttime hours.
  • Address needs that arise during the night ie medication, personal care, follow Behavioural Support Plan, manage crises that might arise.
  • Remain awake, alert and responsive throughout your work hours

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and able to effectively articulate thoughts and ideas 
  • Clear police check including vulnerable sector screening
  • Valid CPR & First Aid certification
  • Knowledgeable about L’Arche history, values and vision
  • Ability to be flexible in approach and responsibilities 
  • Ability to remain calm, focused and clear in times of crisis
  • Ability to take direction and follow-through on commitments in timely fashion
  • Open to learn and grow; able to give and receive feedback
  • Ability to directly address tensions in relationships

Friday 10:30pm-6:30am & Saturday 10:30 pm-6:30am
