Accountant (12-Month Contract)

Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (with potential for extension or permanent conversion) Location: Markham, ON Work Arrangement: Onsite (4–5 days per week) Salary: $70,000 - $85,000

About the Role Our client is seeking a hands-on Accountant to join their growing team in Markham on a 12-month contract. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting function, payroll administration, bookkeeping activities, and financial reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities Perform full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries and general ledger maintenance Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions accurately and efficiently Prepare and file tax returns and support regulatory compliance requirements Administer Canadian payroll and ensure timely and accurate employee payments Prepare account reconciliations and support financial reporting activities Support the Financial Controller with day-to-day finance operations and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Experience performing full-cycle accounting duties Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and journal entries Experience processing Canadian payroll Exposure to month-end close activities is considered an asset Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
