About the role

The Opportunity:

The Community Policing Assistant provides reception, administrative and operational support to the RCMP daily through the use of all relevant police databases, computer related software and communication devices. Acting as first point of contact for Community Policing this role is responsible to answer inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders over the phone, electronically and in person. In addition, it is responsible to maintain all records and files pertaining to Community Policing and events, file retrieval, data entry and modification, administrative office tasks, inventory control, and will attend Community Events when directed.

Top Key Responsibilities:

  • Database & Records Management: Maintain and update police systems (PROS, CPIC, and others), ensuring accurate data entry, file tracking, and compliance with RCMP standards.
  • Administrative & Reporting Support: Perform daily administrative tasks and compile, format, and maintain reports, records, and statistical data.
  • Coordination & Operational Support: Organize meetings, events, travel, and projects while supporting schedules and priorities for leadership and policing initiatives.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Service: Provide professional support to internal teams, RCMP, external agencies, and the public, including managing inquiries and communications.
  • Compliance, Policy & Office Support: Ensure confidentiality, follow policies and safety standards, assist with SOP updates, and manage office resources and systems.

As our preferred candidate, you will have:

  • Completed 1yr Certificate in an Administrative Professional program from a recognized post-secondary institution as well as Grade 12
  • 2 years of direct experience in a policing environment, specific to Community Policing
  • 2 years of experience as an Administrative Professional in an office setting.
  • 1 year of experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to pass RCMP security clearance prior to receiving an offer of employment
  • Must maintain RCMP security clearance throughout employment
  • Ability to type 55 wpm accurately
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete tested courses in: RCMP PROS User Course, RCMP CPIC Maintenance Course, RCMP Records Information Manager Course
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete required on the job training
  • Must be able to work shift work
  • Must possess the ability to work independently with strong decision making capabilities and critical problem solving skills with the ability to remain calm in emergency and stressful situations
  • Discretely handle sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of the team; contributing to a respectful workplace at all times

  • Must be well versed and highly knowledgeable in the statutes and laws of Canada, including but not limited to The Criminal Code of Canada, Provincial and Federal Statutes, Municipal Bylaws, and FOIPP
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of PROS/CPIC Policy and Regulations

Remuneration:

$29.50 to $31.23 per hour.

Hours of Work:

37.5 hours biweekly as scheduled. Evening and weekend work may be required.

Additional Information:

The term of this position is anticipated to be approximately 12 months in duration.
