What you’ll do

• Develops basic web-based, in-person instructor-led and virtual training and produces basic instructional videos and digital assets under the guidance of the Instructional Designer 2 job and Work Leader. Works with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), instructors and Training Leads to develop and write basic training materials, technical documentation, procedure documents and manuals using standard templates. • Under the guidance of the Instructional Designer 2 job and Work Leader, applies current adult education concepts and learning approaches when developing and maintaining basic learning assessment tools based on established assessment matrices to ensure learning assessment tools align with learning objectives and training materials. • Maintains training materials by collaborating with SMEs to update existing training materials to ensure training materials are current, and reviewing, filing, uploading internal and vendor-developed content to align with established instructional design processes, standards, file naming protocols and storage conventions. • Under the guidance of the Instructional Designer 2 job and Work Leader, maintains and monitors the progress of course development and maintenance project plans. Works with SMEs to ensure content accuracy and relevancy. • Acts as a virtual training course producer by: providing technical and logistical support (such as platform setup, materials preparation and basic technical troubleshooting for participants and instructors); supporting instructors with session facilitation and flow (such as monitoring participant engagement, delivery pace); and completing post-session activities (such as distributing session recordings and materials). • Participates in workshops and webinars and conducts research to remain current on emerging trends in instructional design. • Provides technical advice to SMEs, Training Leads, and others on the application of adult learning principles to optimize course design development and maintenance of instructional materials. • Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Science or a related field; AND three (3) years of work experience in an adult training and education role where experience in designing and developing formal/informal training related materials, evaluation tools, or in virtual training course production has been gained. OR • Certificate/Diploma in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development (such as Certificate in Adult & Continuing Education (CACE) or the BC Provincial Instructor Diploma (PIDP)) or a related program; AND four (4) years of work experience in an adult training and education role where experience in designing and developing formal/informal training related materials, evaluation tools, or in virtual training course production has been gained.

• This position is affiliated with the Movement of United Professionals union (MoveUP/COPE). http://moveuptogether.ca • This is an Full-Time Temporary (FTT) MoveUp Group 8 opportunity headquartered at the Trades Training Centre in Surrey. This opportunity will be until approximately March 2027. • A Class 5 driver’s license in good standing is desired however the work locations are accessible by public transit. The successful candidate must provide own transportation to and from work. • As part of the selection process, applicants may be required to complete a written test/assessment or presentation. • Works in a normal office environment. Occasional overnight travel to various offices throughout the province may be required. • Occasional requirement to climb ladders or scaffolds, walk over rough terrain and to lift equipment of light weight when filming or taking pictures at other office locations or in the field.
