Freelance PR Pitch Specialist — Remote (Canada)

About the Opportunity We're looking for a sharp, resourceful PR pitch specialist to join our team on a freelance basis for a 4-month contract. You'll be part of a media relations campaign, working closely with our lead to brainstorm story angles, identify the right journalists and publications, write compelling pitches, and follow through until they land. This is a fully remote role open to candidates based anywhere in Canada.

What You'll Be Doing Brainstorming story angles and hooks that are genuinely newsworthy and relevant to target audiences Researching and building targeted media lists across Canadian and global publications (Tier 1 Canadian outlets, lifestyle media, industry publications, and podcasts) Writing tight, personalized pitches tailored to specific journalists and outlets Sending pitches and managing follow-up cadences through to response or placement Tracking outreach, responses, and live placements Flagging opportunities proactively and flagging risks or slow-moving pitches early Coordinating with the lead on approvals, messaging, and any brand assets needed

What We're Looking For Required: Based in Canada 3+ years of experience in PR, media relations, or journalism A demonstrable track record of landing stories — we'll ask for examples and clips Strong pitch writing skills: you know the difference between a press release and a pitch that actually gets opened Solid understanding of the Canadian and US media landscape — who covers what, which journalists are active, which outlets matter Organized and self-directed; comfortable managing your own outreach calendar and follow-up without hand-holding

Bonus Assets: Experience in lifestyle, food, wellness, or consumer brand PR Digital PR experience — understanding of how placements translate to backlinks, SEO Familiarity with media tools like MuckRack, Qwoted Experience pitching podcasts in addition to print/digital media

Engagement Details Contract type: Freelance / independent contractor Commitment: Approximately 15–20 hours per week depending on pipeline volume Location: Remote, Canada-based
