Protection Service Manager, Midland 2/Collingwood

1-year temporary contract, Full Time starting September 2026

The Job Reporting to a Senior Service Leader, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the service programs and staff. Responsibilities will include: providing case management consultation and direction to case workers consistent with Agency and government policy and standards, carrying out human resource responsibilities (e.g. hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, performance counselling), project and service plan development and implementation, budget management responsibilities, community liaison activities, participating as a member of the agency's management team in other agency initiatives as may be assigned and other duties as assigned by the Senior Service Lead. This is a non-unionized position.

Qualifications  

  • A Master of Social Work/Bachelor of Social Work and/or registration with the OCSWSSW as a Social Worker is preferred. We will consider a related degree with demonstrated intent to obtain a BSW/MSW.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 2 years in a Child Welfare leadership role within the organization preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidate with a minimum of 5+ years child welfare experience specifically in protection (and currently working in protection) with sound knowledge of our Service Delivery Model.
  • Current community connections in the Midland/Wasaga and Collingwood areas are an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of the impact and risk of social issues in child welfare and understanding of current relevant theories and best practices.
  • A thorough knowledge of equity-based, clinical skill requirements, case management and therapeutic interventions as well as applicable Ministry Standards and legislation.
  • Sound knowledge of leadership and management theories, principles and best practices that are equity-centered and accounts for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s recommendations that are child welfare focused.
  • A thorough understanding and approach to practice that is anti-racist, anti-oppressive, intersectional, trauma-informed, healing-centered and that prioritizes cultural safety and responsiveness.
  • A sound understanding of sector commitments/initiatives towards the engagement of Indigenous, Black, Francophone, refugee/immigrant and 2SLGBTQ+ communities in all their intersecting identities (e.g. The Ontario non-Indigenous Children’s Aid Societies Apology and 9 Commitments, OACAS's One Vision One Voice (OVOV) 11 Race Equity Practices, French Language Services Act and Active Offer of Service, etc). 
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and supervisory roles and responsibilities under the Act.
  • Sound understanding of community resources and systems.
  • Strong critical reflection and reflexive assessment skills towards an equity-centred decision-making approach. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with internal and external resources.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills & ability to work effectively under the pressure of tight timelines, competing priorities and emergent issues. 
  • A valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle are required.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a highly desired asset.

Compensation The salary range is $87,997 to $120,073 commensurate with experience, with a generous benefits package, vacation and leave provisions.
