1.0 FTE Term, School Social Worker

Effective: September 8, 2026 - June 30, 2027

School Social Worker

The successful candidate will be a Social Worker (minimum of Bachelor Degree level) and possess or be eligible for a School Clinician’s Certificate issued by Manitoba Education.

The position will provide Social Work support for one high school located within the Pembina Trails School Division.

Candidates must be registered with the Manitoba Institute of Registered Social Workers.

Applicants must possess background knowledge and proven experience in the areas of:

educational systems, public schools family issues behavioural needs mental health and wellbeing supporting families of students with special needs supportive counselling for children and adolescents accessing community-based resources for children and families accessing community-based resources in youth justice and child protection interdisciplinary teaming advocacy crisis intervention/threat assessment/de-escalation techniques providing staff and parent education experience working with students and families impacted by colonial histories, intergenerational trauma, racism and other forms of marginalization experience working with students who may have experienced gaps in schooling or have limited school experience

This position will focus on supporting justice-involved youth and their families/guardians/ caregivers with transitions into and out of Pembina Trails School Division. The role includes facilitating communication among systems with an aim of easing transitions for young people into and out of school.

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory response from both Criminal Record Search and Provincial Child Abuse Registry Check.
