Qualifications

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Post-secondary degree in Business, or Computer Science required.
  • Training or certification in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) required.
  • Relevant training in data management, system integration, or application development required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in automation roles required.
  • Experience developing and supporting business applications and workflows required.
  • Experience working with data integration across systems (e.g., SQL, SharePoint, PowerApps) required.
  • Experience in database design and management, including writing and optimizing SQL queries required.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong demonstrated ability to design and develop automation and application solutions required.
  • Strong demonstrated ability to produce user documentation for in-house systems required.
  • Ability to analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improvement required.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across multiple systems required.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users required.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.

OTHER JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working within Microsoft 365 environment (SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform) required.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and privacy best practices required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently required.
  • Experience in a post-secondary or large organizational environment is required.
  • Experience in a business school setting is an asset.

Key responsibilities

Automation & Application Development

  • Designs and develops automated business solutions using PowerApps, PowerBI, and PowerAutomate to improve efficiency across academic and administrative units.
  • Identifies process gaps through consultation with stakeholders and translates requirements into scalable applications and workflows.
  • Builds PowerApps and PowerAutomate solutions to replace manual processes and improve consistency of operations.
  • Performs ongoing enhancements to ensure solutions remain aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Leads the implementation of new automation initiatives.
  • Plans, develops, tests, and deploys solutions in coordination with stakeholders.
  • Ensures solutions are user-friendly, reliable, and meet defined objectives.

Data Integration & Systems Management

  • Develops and maintains integrations between systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and institutional data sources).
  • Connects data across platforms to enable centralized access and reporting.
  • Ensures data accuracy, consistency, and appropriate access controls.
  • Monitors and maintains the performance and reliability of automation and data systems.
  • Troubleshoots issues across interconnected systems and implements fixes.
  • Performs regular reviews to ensure systems remain stable and efficient.

Data & Reporting Enablement

  • Supports the development of dashboards and reporting solutions to inform decision-making.
  • Works with stakeholders to define reporting needs related to strategic planning, KPIs, and operational metrics.
  • Structures data to ensure accurate and meaningful reporting outputs.
  • Improves access to institutional data.
  • Designs solutions that allow users to retrieve and use data more efficiently.
  • Reduces reliance on manual data collection and ad hoc reporting.

Stakeholder Support & Technical Guidance

  • Provides technical guidance to faculty and staff on automation and data solutions.
  • Advises on best practices and appropriate use of tools.
  • Assists users in understanding and adopting new systems.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure solutions align with business needs.
  • Engages regularly with academic and administrative units to gather feedback and refine solutions.

Governance, Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develops and maintains documentation for systems, processes, and solutions.
  • Ensures knowledge is captured for continuity and support.
  • Ensures solutions align with institutional standards, security, and governance requirements.
  • Applies best practices for data security, privacy, and system sustainability.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Reviews existing processes and recommends enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.
