The Crew Leader is responsible for leading and supervising the seasonal crew in all vineyard job tasks and ensuring task performance meets specified expectations. In this role, you will communicate regularly with the Vineyard Supervisor and train crew members in all aspects of vineyard job tasks also reporting daily hours and work completed. Transportation of crew to the necessary work sites is required. Key Responsibilities Liaise with the Vineyard Supervisor on work schedule and tasks, job priorities, tracking of workers’ completed hours and estimated completion times. Record and submit the crew timecards to the Vineyard Supervisors daily. Implement the directives of the Vineyard Supervisor in the daily training of the crew and in all aspects of vineyard tasks and procedures. Ensure OH & S practices are implemented and followed, ensuring employee safety at all times Transport crews to vineyard destination(s). Split the crew as necessary and execute workload as planned Motivate the crew in achieving Arterra Wines Canada objectives. Relay the crew’s needs to the Vineyard Supervisor(s). Coordinate with the Vineyard Supervisor in various other duties related to the vineyard work. Qualifications 6+ years of viticulture experience Grade 12, or equivalent Viticulture knowledge C or F driver license Bilingual (English/Spanish) First aid Certification Working Conditions The position involves working mainly outdoors. Exposure to summer and winter temperatures is to be expected. Exposure to work in areas with/near heavy equipment and machinery, sometimes on a daily basis. Loud noise is common Some heavy lifting required Position can be considered physically demanding due to long hours, continuous standing and repetitive movements Exposure to chemicals can be expected (mainly pesticides) Special Conditions Must be available to work long hours including weekends, holidays and overtime during high season Must be prepared to take and retain Bus License (C or F) Compensation: $25/hour We are committed to establishing a qualified workforce that reflects the diverse population it serves and we encourage applications from all qualified individuals.
