Dougall Media, Thunder Bay’s only locally owned broadcast and multimedia company, has an opening within our marketing and creative services team for a Digital Content & Marketing Intern.

The Digital Content & Marketing Intern will support the creation and development of digital marketing materials, social media content, and community engagement assets across multiple platforms. This role offers hands-on experience working with digital technologies, AI-assisted design tools, and modern content management platforms while collaborating with internal teams and external clients.
Responsibilities Include:
- Create digital graphics, social media visuals, and marketing materials using traditional and AI-assisted design tools.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the clients’ digital assets for all platforms, and internal as requested.
- Document design processes, maintain organized design files, and suggest workflow improvements.
- Produce simple digital assets (graphics, short videos, photo cards) that support public facing awareness, education, and community engagement initiatives.
- Support the development of digital materials used in informational campaigns, public notices, and community programming.
- Contribute innovative ideas on integrating AI and automation into design processes.
- Adapt existing materials into accessible formats for web, social, and community outreach channels.
- Work closely with sales and marketing agency teams to understand project needs and translate them into digital materials.
- Other duties as assigned related to the team objectives.
Requirements for this position:
- Ability to rapidly generate draft visual concepts using digital tools (e.g., template based design platforms or AI assisted image generation) to support early stage creative development and campaign planning.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and AI-assisted design tools (e.g., Canva AI, DALL·E, MidJourney).
- Strong interest in emerging technologies, AI applications, and digital media.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a tech-focused team.
- Photo editing applications experience would be an asset (e.g., Lightroom, Photoshop Express, or similar).
- Content management familiarity — ability to upload, tag, and organize files in systems like Nextcloud, SharePoint, or Google Drive.
- Social media publishing tools (basic) — Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, or platform-native scheduling tools.
- Valid driver’s licence is an asset.
