Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

This part-time academic will be required to teach POLI 2410/PHIL 2210.03, Crisis and Consent: Foundations of Political Thought: 1651-1778 during Fall Term 2026: September-December 2026, currently scheduled in person on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1605-1725.

Course description: This course covers some of the most important early modern theorists (Hobbes, Locke, Hume, Smith, Rousseau, and Montesquieu). It looks at the development of natural rights, democracy, capitalism, and citizenship.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures and test preparation. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

Preference will be given to applicants with a PhD, or nearly completed PhD, in Political Science and a strong knowledge of the topic. Previous university-level teaching on this topic will be an asset.

All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.

Salary Range/Pay Rate
