About the role
The Quality Data Technologist is responsible for supporting the Quality department through the administration, maintenance, accuracy, and integrity of Quality data, records, and reporting systems throughout the construction phase of new maritime vessels under the National Shipbuilding Strategy programs.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.
This is a 14 month limited term employment with eligible benefits and 3 weeks’ vacation.
What you’ll do
- Perform accurate and timely data entry into Quality department databases, trackers, SharePoint folders, and reporting systems.
- Maintain Quality data across Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, Aras, Co-Console, IFS, and other applicable systems.
- Monitor, review, and validate Quality data to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with departmental procedures.
- Verify that Quality records, Objective Quality Evidence, and supporting documentation are complete, properly filed, and accessible.
- Maintain Quality department dashboards, reports, trackers, inspection records, CCI matrix data, and performance metrics.
- Compile and update data used for recurring and ad hoc Quality reporting, including inspection status, requirements completion, defects, deficiencies, and burn-down metrics.
- Support the tracking and reporting of defects, deficiencies, and non-accepted Objective Quality Evidence.
- Update records to reflect actions, ownership, status changes, and closure information as provided by responsible parties.
- Assist with preparation and organization of inspection packages, records, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Support Quality personnel with department systems, data tools, templates, logs, and reporting processes.
- Coordinate with Quality, Production, Engineering, PMO, and Data Management personnel to obtain missing or corrected information.
- Communicate data gaps, documentation issues, and record deficiencies to appropriate stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to Quality data management, reporting, and records control.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What you'll bring
- Diploma in Business Administration, Engineering Technology, Information Management, Data Analytics, Project Management, or related discipline.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is considered an asset.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in data administration, records management, document control, reporting, quality systems support, or a similar administrative role in a complex project environment.
- Experience working in a construction, manufacturing, shipbuilding, engineering, or project-based environment is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting Quality, Engineering, Production, or Project Management teams is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry and records management.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, filtering, sorting, pivot tables, lookups, and data validation.
- Working knowledge of Power BI, including dashboard maintenance and report updates.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Experience with Aras, Co-Console, IFS, or similar enterprise systems is considered an asset.
- Ability to manage large volumes of data and documentation across multiple systems.
- Ability to identify data discrepancies, missing information, and reporting inconsistencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures, documentation standards, and data governance practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and work in a fast-paced project environment.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, Objective Quality Evidence, inspection records, and document control practices are considered an asset.

The estimated salary for this position is $84,600 - $103,400. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
