About the role
**POSITION: Junior School Teacher **
ASSIGNMENT: Social Studies, English, Career Education (Gr 8-9) This position would be English 8 or English 9 or both, Social Studies 8, Social Studies 9 or both as well as Careers 8. Careers can be taught in cross-curricular manner. This position would be scheduled as an entire day, once a week.
FTE: 0.2
LOCATION: Quesnel Junior School
EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2026 until June 30, 2027, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent, with the possibility of reduction in FTE.
Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:
Training Specialization:
- **Secondary Education with major/minor in Social Studies **
- **Secondary Education with major/minor in English **
Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience teaching at the junior school level
**A Reasonable Expectation: **based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.
Additional Qualifications:
- Two or more courses at the 100 or 200 level in Social Studies
- Two or more courses at the 100 or 200 level in English
Other:
- Commitment to the house-based team structure
- There is an expectation to contribute to whole-school initiatives related to our school growth plan goals
- Willingness to collaborate with department colleagues, and build upon practices that support all learners
The annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $64,901 to $116,190 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
