Building on its history of working to facilitate entry to training or practice for Internationally Educated Health Professionals, Touchstone Institute seeks to continue the work in this area while expanding to support excellence in competent practice for all who deliver health care. Position Description Reporting to the Director, Corporate Services, the Payroll and Accounting Analyst is an experienced payroll and accounts payable specialist who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with efficiency, precision, and a continuous improvement mindset. The role is crucial in managing our financial transactions ensuring timely and accurate payments, requiring technical knowledge of payroll and benefits legislation in Canada and the ability to collaborate and provide excellent customer service to various Touchstone teams and stakeholders. Key Accountabilities Payroll Leads the payroll function including processes payroll, insured benefits and pension benefits for full-time, fixed-term, and casual employees, including inputting timesheets, extracting reports and posting to General Ledger Ensure compliance with all appliable legislation an tax laws and stay informed of regulatory changes Completes preparation and filing of all statutory returns including EHT, WSIB, payroll remittances, and compliance reports Issuing ROE, Processing annual T4 and T4As, Annual payroll and remittances reconciliation Attends to queries of staff regarding payroll, tax forms and other finance-related requests Collaborates closely with the People and Culture team to implement changes and improvements to staff payroll and benefits processes and solutions Other tasks and projects as delegated from time to time Accounts Payable Administer the accounts payable process, including timely invoice processing, payment processing, vendor record management and cost analysis. Performs General Ledger, billing systems and payment gateway reconciliations Maintains all corporate credit cards statements and coordinates tracking of expense receipts with credit card holders. Prepare and analyze accounts payable reporting, aging reports, and cash flow management analysis. Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to ensure smooth processing and authorization of payments, and resolve any compliance and risk issues. Maintains petty cash Other tasks and projects as delegated from time to time Accounting and Reporting Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, quarter-end and year-end accounting schedules. Assist external auditors for interim and year-end related tasks. Support the Director in researching payroll and accounting issues and prepare analysis of and appropriate accounting and tax treatment. Preparation, analysis and reconciliation of monthly, quarterly, annual financial reports and ad hoc reports as needed for management reporting, audits, and compliance reporting to the Ministry of Health related to Touchstone’s funding agreements. Other tasks and projects as delegated from time to time Qualifications: Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. 3+ years of payroll and accounts payable or accounting experience Knowledge of Canadian payroll processes, tax structure, statutory deductions, and pension benefits Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification is an asset. Experience in non-profit and healthcare organizations is an asset. Strong, proven diligence with a customer service emphasis Experience interacting with external auditors and government tax authorities. Strong analytical skills and experience with databases and financial systems for financial analysis and reporting Expertise in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
