Job Title – Payment Processing Officer Period – 6 months (Extension/Conversion possible) Location – Mississauga, ON

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Operations Officer to join a leading financial institution's Operations team in Mississauga. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with banking operations and transaction processing experience who thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume back-office environment. The successful candidate will support critical banking operations by processing transactions, investigating account activities, managing exceptions, and ensuring all work is completed within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Key Responsibilities Process high volumes of banking transactions while consistently meeting daily SLA targets. Investigate account activity and resolve transaction exceptions accurately. Review and manage: Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) items Closed or unfound accounts Deceased accounts Court-ordered accounts Determine whether payments should be processed or returned based on established procedures and account findings. Perform account maintenance and transaction verification. Ensure compliance with internal policies, banking regulations, and operational procedures. Maintain a high level of accuracy while working under strict deadlines. Participate in daily team huddles and collaborate with internal stakeholders. Identify operational risks and escalate issues when appropriate. Support continuous process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives. Required Qualifications Post-secondary education. 2–4 years of experience in banking, financial services, or back-office operations. Experience processing financial transactions in a high-volume environment. Proven ability to consistently meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Proficiency with MS Office 365, including: Excel Word Outlook Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in any of the following will be highly preferred: Banking operations Payment processing Financial services back-office operations Account investigations NSF processing Account maintenance Compliance operations Court orders Deceased account processing Government information requests Required Skills Strong analytical and investigative abilities. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Adaptable and comfortable working in a changing environment. Nice-to-Have Experience using MS Copilot or other AI productivity tools.
