Purpose and Impact

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor will supervise 6-30 hourly warehouse employees to ensure that production schedules are being met within allocated resources in a cost effective way.

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of 6 to 30 hourly warehouse employees, ensuring production schedules are met efficiently and within allocated resources while maintaining a cost. Contract available until mid September.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise the activities of approximately 6-25 warehouse employees in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs) to meet scheduled requirements
  • Coordinate and ensure cycle count intervals are maintained. Investigate inventory discrepancies and make adjustments as approved
  • Monitor and coordinate shipping and receiving schedules and carrier appointment times
  • Perform regular product inspections and audits of warehouse handling practices
  • Monitor inventory and order fill / backorder requirements
  • Monitor site security and follow site security procedures
  • Schedule and co-ordinate equipment repairs as needed
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that internal and external customers are being adequately serviced
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace and identify and correct unsafe practices. Work with Health and Safety to establish and implement new or revised processes, as necessary; lead the incident investigation process for injuries, near misses and property damage
  • Understand and manage employees within company policies, including collective agreements
  • Create work schedules for warehouse employees; monitor and validate employee swipe records in timekeeping system
  • Track and monitor employee attendance issues and maintain attendance database
  • Provide performance management for direct reports, including developing strategies to manage absence and discipline, working collaboratively with human resources as necessary; track and monitor departmental/employee metrics in support of same
  • Participate and assist with creating a culture of continuous improvement focused on health and safety, quality, efficiency, customer service and cost
  • Participate in daily crew meetings. Provide regular feedback to the group about performance with regards to site KPOs and productivity metrics.
  • Support the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) by reporting concerns, ensuring team competency in food safety practices, and integrating FSMS requirements into operations. Foster continual improvement and empowering others to lead within their areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of warehousing, shipping/receiving, or transportation experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Minimum secondary school diploma. Post Secondary Education considered an asset
  • Forklift experience and certification an asset
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to create reports and deliver presentations
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, employee engagement, attendance and performance management, and safety enhancement
  • General computer knowledge. Experience with Microsoft Office, WMS systems and Oracle considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of occupation health and safety and other related legislation/regulations
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors that support organizational values

Working Conditions

  • Spend approximately 70% of the time working in manufacturing environment and approximately 30% in an office environment
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts
