This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Equipment Qualification Engineer based in Canada. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of critical equipment qualification programs within the advanced energy sector. The successful candidate will support engineering teams in ensuring that safety, regulatory, and quality requirements are met throughout the equipment lifecycle. Working across multidisciplinary teams, this position bridges engineering design, licensing strategy, and compliance activities. The role involves supporting complex qualification processes, preparing technical documentation, and engaging with regulatory stakeholders. Accountabilities The Equipment Qualification Engineer will support the development, execution, and continuous improvement of qualification programs while ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations, engineering standards, and quality requirements. The role requires close collaboration with technical teams, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders to deliver robust qualification strategies. Support the design and implementation of equipment qualification programs from initial development through final qualification. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure new designs and design modifications comply with equipment qualification requirements. Develop, review, and maintain technical and licensing documentation according to regulatory standards and quality assurance procedures. Contribute to the definition and execution of equipment qualification strategies aligned with project objectives and licensing approaches. Prepare and review technical documents, including test requirement documents, specifications, and regulatory evaluations. Support interactions with regulatory authorities by reviewing correspondence, preparing responses, and contributing to licensing documentation. Assist with safety analysis report revisions and other technical submissions. Coordinate with internal engineering disciplines, external partners, suppliers, and testing organizations. Evaluate vendor testing activities and ensure qualification evidence meets project and regulatory expectations. Maintain awareness of evolving industry practices, standards, and regulatory developments related to equipment qualification. Requirements The ideal candidate is an experienced mechanical engineering professional with a strong background in equipment qualification, nuclear industry standards, and regulatory compliance. They should combine technical expertise with strong communication skills and the ability to manage complex engineering activities independently. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience. 15+ years of experience developing and implementing equipment qualification programs. Proven ability to contribute to qualification programs from initial concept through final validation. Strong knowledge of ASME standards, including QME-1 and OM Code requirements. Experience applying IEEE-344 and other relevant IEEE standards. Background in mechanical design for commercial nuclear power plants or similar highly regulated environments. Familiarity with NEI 18-04, Regulatory Guide 1.233, and equipment environmental qualification guidance. Experience working with vendor test facilities and qualification testing processes. Understanding of nuclear industry trends and equipment qualification practices. Ability to work within strict quality assurance frameworks and maintain strong documentation discipline. Experience interacting with regulatory authorities and supporting licensing activities is highly preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative and team-oriented approach. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Professional tools.
