This introductory course explores the creative use of technology by artists, designers, makers, and industry professionals, in addition to the artistic potential of technology innovation. This course surveys different aspects of creative technologies led by faculty and instructors from the Department of Creative Technologies & Design. Students will explore topics such as maker culture, visual communication design, audio and sound design, AR/VR, Video Games, Creative Coding, 3D Printing, digital art, DIY electronics, critical improvisation, digital storytelling, and the significance of interdisciplinarity within Creative Technologies.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate must have completed or be in process of completing a MFA, MA, PhD with a focus in Creative Technologies and or equivalency. Evidence of experience teaching creative technologies, including hardware and software relevant to the class as it has been taught since 2023 is necessary. Experience managing classroom and online technologies used by U of R and experience teaching at the university level is necessary.

Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Other Work Hours

CTCH 110-397 and 110-398 are scheduled as an online asynchronous courses for the Fall semester (September-December).
