The Role

The Facility Attendant is responsible for light labour maintenance, cleaning duties and providing general information and customer assistance for customers using the City’s recreation facilities.

We provide high-quality, accessible recreation opportunities across Kingston’s facilities, including arenas, pools, marinas, sports fields, and community centres. Our team ensures these spaces are well-maintained and welcoming, supporting programs, groups and activities that bring people together and promote active living.

What You'll Do...

Open and close facilities (set alarms, secure doorways, perform necessary security checks etc.)

Greet and liaise with customers using the facilities in a friendly manner

Ensure all entrances and exits to the facility are cleared of debris / snow and are operative to meet safety standards

Regularly monitor and clean facilities including; change rooms, washrooms, viewing areas and foyers

Remove garbage and waste from the facility as required

Perform assigned cleaning duties safely and efficiently

Provide facility monitoring/set-up/take-down services for special events and large scale recreational programs such as public skating, trade shows, junior hockey games, carnivals, tournaments, shows etc

Perform winter maintenance duties such as snow removal, salting and sanding outdoor entrances and exits surrounding the facility

Complete all required logs and checklists

Complete required incident/accident reports on the appropriate forms and submit to the Supervisor

Participate in department meetings, initiatives and training activities

Act in accordance with federal and provincial legislation as well as corporate and departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrate commitment to ensuring a respectful and safe workplace

Other duties as assigned

Contract for September 27, 2026-March 27, 2027

Hours of work and shifts will vary; you must be available to work a flexible schedule as required, including:

Monday - Friday, evenings (5pm to 11pm),

Saturday - Sunday, day and evening shifts.

To qualify, you'll need...

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent

Three (3) months experience in front line customer service.

Must possess core competencies: Belonging, Collaboration, Accountability, Innovation.

Knowledge of MS Office an asset

Knowledge of WHMIS an asset

Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CPIC)

Demonstrated customer service skills

Able to perform the essential duties of the job

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
