Job Summary

As an On-Call ECEA, you are our "relief hero." You will step into various programs to support our teams, ensuring that no matter who is away, the children in our care have a safe, engaging, and joyful day. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety and enjoys meeting new colleagues and children across our Comox Valley locations.

Job Duties:
  • Adaptable Teamwork: Work as a key member of various integrated staff teams, quickly building rapport and maintaining effective communication.
  • Program Support: Help carry out and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities using modeling, observing, and reinforcing techniques.
  • Safety & Supervision: Ensure children are supervised at all times and engaged in safe, age-appropriate activities.
  • Care & Connection: Attend to children’s physical needs (diapering, toileting, eating, and sleeping) with care and professionalism.
  • Operational Excellence: Follow established daily schedules and ensure all documentation (attendance, logbooks) is kept accurate during your shift.
  • Inclusion: Implement identified care plan goals to support children with diverse needs, ensuring consistent practice across the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Certification: Approved ECEA Certification through the Early Childhood Registry of B.C.
  • Safety: Valid First Aid/CPR certificate approved by Community Care Facilities Licensing.
  • Reliability: Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to respond to on-call assignments.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a licensed childcare facility; ability to adapt quickly to new environments and routines.
  • Eligibility: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
