Division: NAKA Power Utilities  

Location: Yellowknife, NWT  

 

What We Offer

  • 40 hours per week

  • $33.38  per hour

  • 6% vacation pay

  • A temporary position for approximately 6 months that can help build the foundation needed for future advancement, including possible consideration for a Powerline Technician apprenticeship 

 

Why Work Here:   

As a Groundperson, you will work directly with Power Line Technician crews who construct, operate, and maintain powerlines and electrical distribution systems. This is a hands-on field role suited to candidates with an interest in electrical utility work, construction, trades, laborer, and outdoor work. You will handle tools, materials, and equipment, assist with setting up and dismantling work sites, support safe work practices, and contribute to daily crew operations in all weather conditions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assisting PLT crews with construction and maintenance of powerlines

  • Handling tools, equipment, and materials safely

  • Setting up, organizing, and cleaning up work sites

  • Supporting safe work procedures at all times

  • Working professionally with crew members, customers, and the public

 

What You Bring:

  • High School Diploma, CAEC, or GED

  • Minimum academic requirements for Alberta Industry Training PLT Apprenticeship entry  (English 20 2, Math 20 3, Science 10)

  • Valid Class 5 drivers’ license 

  • Ability to work at heights on wood poles and steel towers

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Ability to perform physically active work and travel when required
