About the role

STEMnosis is a youth-led organization launching a free research course for high school students, featuring neuroscience and public health. Our course provides students worldwide with access to university-level skills, mentorship and resources to explore scientific research in STEM fields, regardless of their income.

Volunteer Position Overview: STEMnosis is seeking organized, professional, and dedicated mentors to guide students throughout the research process by providing academic support, constructive feedback, critical thinking guidance, and meaningful mentorship while fostering student engagement and curiosity in STEM research. Support Student Research: Answer questions on Slack and Zoom about research topics, methodologies, reliable sources, and more. Provide Feedback: Review final projects, offering constructive feedback on scientific accuracy, clarity, and overall quality. Flexible Availability: Be available to assist students throughout Mid July to August. Time commitment: 10-15 hours/week from Mid July to August.

Who We're Looking For: Graduate students, postdocs, or professionals with completion of an undergraduate study in healthcare/biological sciences Experienced with research, in a lab and writing papers Individuals who have published co-authored research papers (preferred). Experience in education, tutoring, or mentoring high school students previously, and can guide students in developing research topics and hypotheses (preferred). Specializes in neuroscience or public health (preferred).

*Requirements: Individuals who have experience writing/publishing research Individuals with experience conducting research in the lab within the biological sciences (such as the completion of an Honors Research Project) Individuals who’ve completed/are nearly completed an undergraduate studies program in the sciences.
