About the role
Position Summary: Roe Environmental is seeking an experienced environmental monitor and field coordinator with demonstrated competency supporting delivery of environmental services on large construction projects for an immediate start. The position is based out of Campbell River, BC. The role requires experience with environmental compliance monitoring, water treatment, fish habitat and wildlife monitoring, and communications with project owners and stakeholders. Accommodation will be available for non-local candidates, along with the use of a company vehicle for transportation to/from the project site.
Position Terms: ● Temporary contract beginning 1 August 2026, with opportunity for continued full-time employment. ● Position to require shift work - typically 2 weeks on, 1 week off; or 10 days on, 4 days off. ● Normal working days are 10-12 hours with overtime paid per provincial standards (1.5x over 8hrs, 2x over 12 hrs).
Position Location: The position will be based out of Campbell River, BC. Accommodation will be provided for non-local candidates.
Position Requirements: ● Experience with environmental management planning and delivery for large scale infrastructure construction. ● Knowledge of relevant regional, provincial, and federal guidelines and best practices. ● Water quality monitoring and sampling experience. ● Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills along with effective client communication abilities. ● Demonstrated effectiveness in self-directed and leadership roles. ● Strong technical writing and formatting abilities.
Job Duties: ● Field monitoring and coordination of field staff to deliver monitoring services. ● Interfacing effectively with field team, contractors, and various on-site personnel. ● Interpreting relevant guidelines and identifying and applying best practices in field delivery. ● Generating reports and contributing to client requested reporting deliverables. ● QA/QC of field data and analytical results.
Preference Given To: Priority placement will be given to (1) Indigenous candidates with demonstrated experience, competency, and a good safety track record and (2) Canadian citizens/permanent residents.
Compensation: ● $38 - 45/hour based on experience and training ● Per diem
Benefits: ● Cellphone allowance ● Overtime in keeping with BC Employment Standards.
