Job ID: RQ11329 Job Title: Software Developer (Back End) - Senior Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite) Duration: 108 Business Days with possible extension Client: Public Sector Pay Rate: CAD $95 per hour Role Overview This is a senior backend development role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale Java-based web applications. You'll be responsible for building and enhancing backend services, developing REST APIs, integrating with Oracle or SQL databases, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring applications are secure, scalable, and high-performing. You'll also participate in coding, testing, debugging, and supporting applications throughout the full software development lifecycle. The role involves working in an Agile environment, collaborating with technical teams, and using technologies such as Java, RESTful Web Services, Azure DevOps, Oracle/SQL databases, and security protocols like JWT, OAuth 2.0, and SSL. It's a hands-on onsite position where you'll help deliver enterprise-level solutions while contributing to system architecture, performance, and continuous improvement. Must Have: 10+ years of experience as a designer and developer in the large-scale multi-client web applications 10+ year of hands-on working experience of Java development with Oracle or SQL database 5+ years of hands-on experience of RestAPI, RESTful WebServices Knowledge of security gateways and protocols (JWT, Oauth2.0, SSL Certificates) Role and responsibilities. Manage the interchange of data between the server and users by translating technical system specifications into working, tested applications, including developing programming specifications, writing/generating code, compiling data-driven programs, maintaining applications, and conducting unit testing. Resolve and troubleshoot technical issues during software implementation, conversion, operation, and post-implementation support, including reviewing, analyzing, modifying, encoding, testing, and debugging product installation scripts. Design, develop, code, test, debug, document, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot applications using structured software development methodologies, object-oriented and/or third-generation programming languages, design patterns, and relational/hierarchical database technologies. Develop and maintain server-side logic, central databases, and middleware while ensuring high performance, responsiveness, seamless integration with front-end components, and support for Internet-ready applications. Utilize information retrieval packages, query languages, communication protocols, middleware, gateways, and rapid application development (RAD) methodologies while applying Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices. Collaborate with IT professionals, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to elicit and document business requirements, conduct design walkthrough sessions, and deliver user and system documentation. Ensure applications comply with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, negotiation, teamwork, and deadline management skills.
