Additional Working Conditions

Ability to travel between Fredericton and Saint John campuses as well as the Moncton site on a regular basis.

Salary Range: $73,544 - $100,232 per annum (as of July 1st, 2026)

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to Director, Transformative Teaching and Learning, the Manager Education Development is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of education development directed at faculty and contract academics at UNB. Leading a small team of Education Developers and Instructional Designers, this position ensures there is effective support of faculty and other educators at UNB in all modalities, Working in close collaboration with the Director, Transformative Teaching and Learning, this position will contribute toward achieving the university's strategic ambitions.

Manage support for faculty, contract academics, and instructors through an online ticketing system. Provide pedagogical advice, direct instruction, troubleshooting, test cases, and escalate support requests as appropriate. Allocate and respond to incoming requests and liaise with the D2L support line when required to coordinate pedagogy support and knowledge development. Develop and implement long-term plans that position UNB as a leader in transformative teaching and learning. Align team activities with UNB's strategic priorities and lead pilots of new pedagogies and teaching strategies. Lead HR management activities, including performance evaluation, documentation, and employee support. Provide guidance to staff on priorities and resolve logistical, technical, and performance challenges. Address employee concerns through coaching and mentoring, partnering with People & Culture as needed. Promote team development and adapt leadership styles to drive performance, engagement, and high-quality client service. Drive team performance through clear two-way communication, target setting, accountability, and conflict resolution. Distribute workload effectively across the team and build knowledge and skill capacity to support faculty and instructors. Foster collaboration across campuses when making decisions and recommendations related to teaching and learning culture. Consult on emerging technologies, pedagogies, and opportunities in higher education. Build expertise in online pedagogy, inclusive education, experiential education, and Indigenous education in alignment with UNB priorities. Design, implement, and maintain a quality assurance program that strengthens education development, training, and learning opportunities. Deliver development opportunities that promote the transfer of knowledge and skills across the unit and broader stakeholder groups.

What You Bring

Master's degree in education or another relevant field. Three to five years experience as a team leader or manager. Three to five years experience providing pedagogical support to educators. Experience in a teaching or training environment (post-secondary education environment is preferred) Familiarity with online pedagogy.

Additional Strengths

Certificate in university teaching or course development is an asset. Strong communication skills as well as analytical and critical thinking skills. Experience collaborating with various stakeholders. Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
